XP Rebooted, Microsoft Launches Ad Campaign for 3 Year Old XP OS

April 19, 2005
(CoolAvenues News Wire)

Microsoft Corporation launched 15-month long advertising campaign "Start Something" to showcase its operating system Windows XP in 11 countries worldwide including US & India. The other countries are Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Netherlands and UK.

The campaign is being done to boost sales of Windows XP and to further showcase Windows XP and allied technologies to the customers in the chosen countries. This ad campaign launch precedes the launch of "LongHorn", the much-awaited Windows operating system slated to be available in 2006.

The campaign is aimed to create excitement about Windows XP and let consumers know how they can "explore, enhance and pursue" their interests using Windows XP OS.

This campaign comes in the backdrop of oncoming launch of Apple OS "Tiger" on 29th April 2005. After a long time, Apple Mac is witnessing a renewed interest in its Mac computers riding on the success of iPod and is expected to gain some market share after along time.

Moreover, in the Internet browser market, competition seems to be getting hot as for the first time share of Microsoft Internet Browser "IE (Internet Explorer)" slid below 90% due to launch of "FireFox", an Internet browser launched by Mozilla. IE has come under sharp criticism from experts, due to ongoing security problems and lack of any significant update by Microsoft. Microsoft is expected to launch updated version of IE along with longhorn.

Concluded.
