IM Goes Mobile With Blackberry

In a move to expand usage of Instant Messenger, Microsoft has announced availability of corporate Instant messenger on Blackberry, a popular wireless e-mail device. Microsoft will partner with Research in Motion (RIM) to enable availability of Instant Messenger on its propriety handset known as Blackberry.

Blackberry, a product of Research in Motion Limited, a company based out of Canada, is popular wireless e-mail device, which integrates phone, SMS, e-mails, organizes and delivers data and e-mails on Blackberry device through push-based technology. It also integrates with the existing enterprise system. In India, Blackberry is offered on Airtel Network.

This move will help Microsoft to expand market for its Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 while it will help RIM to further strengthen its grip on the market.

In an earlier move, RIM has allowed access of AOL messenger & Yahoo IM on its Blackberry device.
