BITs Pilani, the premier unaided private institutes has denied that it has agreed to reservation system. In a press release issues, BITS Pilani has said that NDTV and certain other news channels have wrongly quoted BITs Pilani name in the list of unaided deemed universities, who have agreed to implement reservation for SC/ST & OBC in which BITS, Pilani’s name is also mentioned.
As per statement, BITS, Pilani could not attend the said meeting convened by the Hon’ble Minister of HRD on 26th October, 2006.
In fact BITS, Pilani had already submitted a Note to the Ministry expressing its views on reservation of seats in admissions for the weaker sections.
According to BITS, merit must be the only criteria for admissions so as to ensure homogenous input into the higher education system. Provision has to be made in the schools to give special coaching so that candidates of weaker sections can compete with other students.
BITS Pilani, established as university in 1964 was started by Mr G.D.Birla, an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi.
BITS Pilani is one of leading educational institute is India and is known for its quality teaching.

BITS is always the best. People should strongly come against reservations in higher education or for that matter jobs in the private/public sector.
All the help needed should be given to weaker sections during primary education. A nation which cant support meritocracy where needed will definitely go to dogs. Imagine a bright SC/ST student not trying his best to get what he wants since he’s got reservation. Reservation is a disadvantage to everybody.
Let the Government announce that SC/ST/OBC students who get admission by MERIT will be paid full scholarship towards fees and hostel food expenses. You will find the improvement in performance of these candidates. Government should enable the future for the deprived classes and not simply shortsight in the name of reservations and disable them further.
this is ridiculous…2 hear dat no reservation is present….
hats off bits… great decision of no reservation.. i hope all the institutes take the same decisions.. the financially backward people need help, not backward caste people…. in this century.
